Blackmagic HyperDeck Extreme 4K HDR
HyperDeck Extreme offers the trusted reliability of HyperDeck combined with new innovations such as space-saving H.265 files, optional internal cache, 3D LUTs and HDR support. With the ability to record up to 4K in H.265, you get lower storage costs and stunning image quality. The large touchscreen provides a perfect view of your recording and control over all deck settings. You can add HyperDeck Extreme Control to transform it into a traditional broadcast deck. This means that HyperDeck Extreme is the perfect solution for next-generation broadcasting, live production and digital signage.
HyperDeck Extreme has an innovative touchscreen user interface with deck controls and a large screen to view your recordings. HyperDeck Extreme also includes 2 media slots, 12G-SDI, analog connections for archiving, USB-C external drive recording, plus a front-panel speaker and headphone jack. There's also an optional cache that eliminates lost frames if your media fills up or is too slow. Both AC and DC power connections are also included for use in the studio or on location.
With its amazing versatility, HyperDeck Extreme is also great for live production as a master recorder, clip player and for ISO camera recording. Analog inputs allow you to record from old video tapes, so legacy programming can be used on the latest streaming services or for editing. Digital signage is easy with HyperDeck Extreme because it has 10G Ethernet for fast media uploads, plus a simple remote control protocol. You can even use it as a field recorder as it includes HDMI, SDI and analog inputs with built-in scopes and 3D LUTs. The scopes also help you make sure they meet broadcast standards before streaming and broadcasting.
The innovative touch LCD user interface offers incredible control. On the screen, there are dedicated play, stop, and record buttons, plus a mini-timeline to browse through their recordings. The LCD screen includes a heads-up display of time code, video standard, media status and audio meters. Scopes can be turned on via the touchscreen, as well as focus and exposure assistance. There's also a comprehensive range of settings, all controlled from the large LCD screen. In addition, you can load and save 3D LUTs.
With CFast media support, you can record on commercially available flash memory cards. The H.265 files are small enough to allow for long recordings on standard CFast cards. In addition, there are 2 CFast card slots, so you can swap full cards even while recording, allowing for infinite length recordings.
Sometimes media can fill up before you can switch the card, or if the card is too slow, frames can drop. To resolve this issue, you can install a PCIe flash disk in HyperDeck Extreme to use as the record cache. This eliminates problems with CFast media or external drives, as the cache automatically inherits and includes any content that the media failed to capture. Even if a card becomes full, the recording continues to the cache until it is swapped out.
People are ready for the latest HDR workflows with support for the latest HDR standards and an extremely bright display with a wide color gamut. The built-in scopes even turn into HDR scopes when working in HDR formats. The bright LCD screen has a wider color gamut, so it can display both Rec. 2020 and Rec. 709 color spaces. The built-in HyperDeck Extreme HDR LCD color gamut can even handle 100% of the DCI-P3 format.
HyperDeck Extreme features full internal waveform monitoring, ensuring you are compliant with broadcast standards when used in high-end work. The waveform provides a traditional representation of the luminance (brightness) of your input or playback signal. The vectorscope display allows you to see color intensity at 100% SDI reference levels. You also get RGB and YUV parade displays which are ideal for color correction and illegal level checking. Histogram shows the distribution of white to black detail in your images and highlights or shadows.
H.265 files are extremely small and range from 60:1 to 285:1 compression ratios, which means much smaller file sizes. Plus H.265 is now supported on all major operating systems. HyperDeck Extreme even supports Apple ProRes 422 HQ, ProRes 422, ProRes 422 LT for recording and playback plus ProRes 4444 for playback to fill in and key out. This means that files are compatible with software such as DaVinci Resolve, Media Composer, Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro X.
With 10G Ethernet, HyperDeck Extreme is perfect for digital signage as remote uploads are extremely fast. It uses a simple text-based protocol and you can use Telnet to test control commands. To upload media files remotely, you can use FTP, or even simple FTP client software. When the Ethernet protocol and FTP are used with large USB-C disk arrays, HyperDeck Extreme becomes a great broadcast server.
