Blackmagic Cloud Store 20TB
Blackmagic Cloud Store is the great network storage solution for any use. But it's perfect for film and television where large media files need to be shared between multiple users for editing, color correction, audio post and VFX work. It can even handle huge 12K Blackmagic RAW digital cinema files. Every user works with no latency and they don't need to store any files on their local computer. It is the perfect solution for DaVinci Resolve.
Unlike IT industry storage products that are rack-mounted and have loud cooling fans, the Blackmagic Cloud Store is an elegant vertical design that is portable. In addition, it is whisper-quiet and can therefore also be used on location. Internally, it has a series of flash memory cards that work in parallel for speed and data protection. The four 10G Ethernet ports work as a switch, allowing you to connect four separate computers, or work them together using "link aggregation" for massive 40G Ethernet speed. There's also an HDMI monitor output, so you can watch a live graphic of the storage on a TV or monitor.
The Blackmagic Cloud Store uses M.2 flash memory cards for extreme reliability, fast access speeds and zero seek times. In addition, the M.2 cards are arranged in parallel RAID 5 groups so that they can run much faster than a single card. This ensures enormous speed in combination with fault tolerance.
With 4 separate very fast 10G Ethernet connections, Blackmagic Cloud Store is extremely fast. The internal memory core is designed to load all four 10G Ethernet ports simultaneously to their theoretical maximum speed. At maximum speed, the Blackmagic Cloud Store is extremely quiet with very little noise from the cooling fan. Even when editing large 12K RAW digital movie files. It's so fast that multi-camera editing is incredibly smooth, even when used with huge digital movie camera files.
Now you can set up a local cache of your Dropbox files. This makes work much faster as files are readily available without having to be loaded from the internet. Blackmagic Cloud Store will work constantly to keep in sync. In addition, you can also save space on your computer by moving cached Dropbox files to the Blackmagic Cloud Store so that they can be accessed by anyone on your local network. You can even sync multiple Blackmagic Cloud Stores through Dropbox so that people in different geographic locations can collaborate without delay because everyone has a local copy of the files. Dropbox is also a fantastic backup solution.
The most exciting feature is the HDMI monitoring output. Just plug in a TV or monitor to see the live status of the Blackmagic Cloud Store. The storage card shows a graphical representation of the memory core and where the read and write access takes place for the connected users. There are also four graphs showing you the data transfers on the four main 10G Ethernet connections. The main storage indicator shows you the memory core capacity and how much is currently being used. The status for each Dropbox connection is also displayed. It is even possible to see connected users and the status of the power supply.
The Blackmagic Cloud Store has four fast 10G Ethernet ports, which can only be found on expensive workstation computers. The Blackmagic Cloud Store is so fast that it will use any 10G Ethernet port to its maximum capacity. With a built-in Ethernet switch, each port can be connected to a separate computer, or they can be used together for 40G Ethernet. With two additional 1G Ethernet ports, you can keep the 10G Ethernet ports free for faster computers.
Modern laptops are so thin that they often don't even have an Ethernet connection. Blackmagic Cloud Store has a built-in USB-C to Ethernet adapter. That means you can just plug in to quickly grab files when you need them urgently.
The two USB-C ports on the Blackmagic Cloud Store can be used for file loading and backup. Connecting a media card reader or USB-C drive to the ingest port will load all files on that drive into the cloud store. Backup is also important and while Dropbox is a good backup solution, plugging a USB drive into the backup port allows you to create local backups with no running costs and complete privacy. It works with a USB-C drive or even large USB-C drive arrays.
One of the great advantages of Blackmagic Cloud Store is that you have full control over the private storage. There are no subscriptions to sign up for. There are no monthly license fees. There is no tracking of your usage or data. That means you can use a private network, completely disconnected from the internet. This is critical to many security standards where computer networks cannot be connected to the external Internet. With Blackmagic Cloud Store, you get enterprise-level performance, but with total freedom.
When you need to change settings, you can use the Blackmagic Cloud Store utility available on Mac and Windows. The tool also allows you to add Dropbox sync folders.
